for those that missed it the first time around, here is the 2010 calendar to download again. have fun!

and remember the little UPS debacle? i had ordered a bunch of calendars for gifts but not everything came on time. they are here now and i have some extras that i'd like to give away! it is press printed on linen paper with a case...really cute if i do say so myself. :)

so if you're interested, go ahead and leave a comment. i'll draw 2 names on friday, jan. 8th.

with a new year ahead, there is so much to look forward to. so much to experience and so much to learn. i will say that i've never been really good at the whole resolution deal. i'm the type that doesn't want to commit to anything in case i don't follow through. it's that whole fear of failure thing. a weakness for sure. but this year i'm keeping it simple. along with some of the usual things i'm working to change about myself, i am setting one goal

....to keep my bathroom counter clean! pretty silly, no? but if i can do this one thing, i will consider it a miracle. here's hoping your new year's goals/resolutions are better than mine! ;)

i've got a little something to share. i decided to whip up another desktop calendar this year! i debated doing it but i decided that 1) i love looking at it all year long and 2) i still need to make some christmas gifts...so it's a win win sitchy.

then i decided i might as well share it because it's more fun that way. 

you can download it here for FREE! there are 100 available so have at 'em!

i've included the individual pages and also a printable pdf. to make a desktop calendar you can print out the pdf, cut the pages, and put it in a CD case. just detach the cover of the case, flip it inside out, reattach it, and prop it up like this.

you can also buy calendar cases here. or you can skip the case and hang them all up side by side on a bulletin board or something. if i can answer any questions, let me know.

back 2 school stuff

well, i survived the first week of school! dallin thinks it's awesome. he loves kindergarten. i'm not surprised. he really thrives on structure and he loves to learn. so grateful for that! the drop off on the first day was pretty funny. i, of course, wanted to take pictures of my little guy on this eventful day in our lives. however, he was not on the same page as me! i asked him to stop for a few pics and he said, "uh mom, i KNOW they don't allow cameras here at this school. inside or outside!" so as you see, he wasn't too jazzed about posing for the camera. luckily when we went inside, he was willing to let me snap just one. funny kid! he's getting a little sick of mom looming around with a camera!

also thought i'd share a little project i created for a class at Two Peas in a Bucket--an "off to kindergarten" book that I made for dallin. it's a mini book that has all of his important contact info, bus info, a reminder of how to tie his shoes, his favorites, etc. you can see the rest here. and here is a Kindergarten Book template for the inserts that i included in the book in case you'd like it. 

weekend projects

lots of stuff accomplished this weekend. yee-haw!

#1. the laundry room is done. yo, baby! now i just need to take pictures. i'll hook you up with those on monday!

#2. finished a fun little project for the garden girl blog at twopeasinabucket.com. i made a birthday box so now i clearly have no excuse for not remembering family birthdays. you can check out more pictures of it here. 

#3. swam. swam. swam.

and perhaps this is our happiest accomplishment of the entire year. if you have been around this blog at all for the past few years, you may recall our issues with swimming. we have them. a lot of them. every year, when summer rolls around there is great fear and trembling in our home. when the dreaded words "swimming lessons" are uttered, usually pandemonium breaks out. crying. wailing. and great trepidation. 

of course, this year was no different. same story. 

we've been at it again all month long. more lessons. and no swimming. and finally on thursday i said to jeff, "do you have any idea how much money we've spent just trying to teach this kid to swim? no more! i'm going to throw him in the pool myself and say sink or swim buddy!"

well, the same afternoon that i said that, i went out in the pool with dallin to check out his abilities. i expected the same old, "but i don't want to swim!" i swear i must have alarmed the neighbors with my shrieks of delight when i saw him jump in and swim. and swim. and he just kept swimming. for 5 hours straight that day. i had no idea the progress his teacher was making with him. no idea.

i thought it might have been a fluke because we've had those in the past. but yesterday and today we swam again with no hesitations.

and the icing on the cake...when he said to me, "mom, do you know what my favorite sport is? swimming!"

dude. this momma is a happy camper.
